One room or the whole home?
A wall-mounted split system conditions an individual room or connected space. Ducted systems distribute air through outlets to multiple rooms. For a bedroom or home office, a split system may be sufficient; for several regularly occupied rooms, ask for a ducted design and a multi-head alternative.
Installation and available space
Ducted installation needs space for an indoor unit, ductwork and outlets, as well as an outdoor unit. Roof access and ceiling construction can affect feasibility. Split systems need suitable indoor and outdoor positions and a route for pipework, power and drainage. Have each installer assess your actual home.
Control and running costs
Compare the efficiency of the proposed models and the rooms you will actually use. Ask how ducted zones operate, whether a minimum number of outlets must remain open, and how individual split systems would be controlled. Tariffs, insulation, settings and operating hours all affect the bill.
Ask for comparable quotes
Request model numbers, heating and cooling capacities, electrical work, installation inclusions, controller details and warranty terms. Compare the same rooms and comfort requirements across proposals. The cheapest headline price may cover a different installation scope.
