Capacity and system design
Room dimensions, glazing, orientation, ceiling height and insulation affect the required capacity. A larger unit is not automatically a better choice. Ask how the installer selected the capacity and, for ducted systems, the outlet and zoning arrangement.
Access, pipework and electrical work
Long pipe runs, difficult roof access, additional drainage, switchboard work and outdoor unit mounting can change the price. Ask whether these are included, provisional or excluded, and whether an inspection is needed before the price becomes firm.
Replacement and removal
For a replacement, ask about removal and disposal of the old equipment, treatment of redundant ducts or outlets, and making good any affected surfaces. Existing infrastructure should be assessed rather than assumed reusable.
Compare the full installed scope
Request itemised written quotes with model numbers, GST, installation work, commissioning, warranty terms and payment milestones. Ask for any incentive to be shown separately with its eligibility conditions. A home-specific assessment is more useful than an unsupported online price estimate.
